Occupational Ergonomics Technical Group (OETG) Mission:
- Consider issues in occupational ergonomics and analyze implications of these issues from a human-factors perspective;
- Clarify the need for and encourage human factors research, application, and education as relevant to occupational ergonomics;
- Provide opportunities for technical interchange among occupational ergonomics professionals; Disseminate information from occupational ergonomics to technical group members, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and the public;
- Provide leadership in occupational ergonomics by, for example, establishing cooperative efforts with professional and technical organizations outside the Society;
- Promote opportunities for growth in professional skills and knowledge of Society members within occupational ergonomics.
The group hosts lecture sessions, discussion panels, symposia, and poster sessions engaging students and faculty from academia as well as practitioners, at the HFES annual meetings. The group provides student travel awards and best paper and poster awards in different categories at the annual meetings. The group also organizes webinars relevant to the research and practice of occupational ergonomics year-round. Members participate in the development and dissemination of research, technical standards, and advocacy relevant to occupational ergonomics.
All officers serve one-year terms (calendar year). The Technical Group Vice Chair and Technical Group Vice Program Chair automatically become Chairs of the respective positions after one calendar year and a call for nominations is issued each fall for new Vice Chairs.
